I remember A3-40 being painted in in the OC'S Jim Flemming colours and his flying the aircraft.
HE LOVED TO BUZ THE BASE. and we loved it to.
I was working Air movement Williamstown one day when our boss decided he would help load the aircraft a C130 and drive the fork lift a 18,000lb HYSTER L4. We did point out he didn't have a ticket to drive the fort lift but.
Well just as the boss was coming up to the aircraft Jim Flemming in A3-40 came over and Buzzed the airfield right beside us and the boss put a hole into the back of the aircraft, Our boss was also the transport officer and had a L4 ticket that afternoon. The C130 pilot was not happy.
Thanks Jim loved it
....and if you look carefully you'll see me in the control tower!
(Big Jim) Flemming's last flight in his personal aircraft on being posted to London after two years as OC Williamtown.
